The Dollhouse began in Columbus, OH as a solo intersectional feminist zine project run out of a quaint, grungy apartment of the same moniker. The zines were sold to members of the local DIY scene at house shows hosted by The Dollhouse.

As the zines gained more traction, the movement grew as well, developing into a full-print nonprofit DIY magazine that prioritizes publishing work from artists of color, artists with disabilities & LGBTQ+ artists, who are compensated with the magazine sales. The Dollhouse has produced three issues and hosted live music performances, art gallery events, poetry readings, fundraising events, fashion shows & alien-themed issue release parties.
